Passage

Adoptant un point de vue zénithal, la vidéo Passage se compose d’un lent travelling dévoilant dans une temporalité très lente différents seuils. Le point de vue particulier adopté, axé sur le passage interstitiel amène contre toute attente une dimension narrative, sans pour autant en révéler la véritable histoire.
Ces seuils ne sont en effet pas capturés aveuglément : ils retracent le chemin d’un ouvrier travaillant dans la fabrication de barres de seuils métalliques. À chaque fois que celui-ci franchit un seuil, rencontré lors de son chemin vers l’usine, une photographie est prise. Paradoxalement, la vue d’ensemble est impossible : les seuils coulent sans fin et distillent leur message dans une temporalité autre.
Décliné en photographie et en vidéo, ce travail aborde le seuil comme un objet à part entière, fixe, incomplet et fragmentaire. Les seuils accumulés taisent l’action en ne se concentrant que sur la suspension du moment du passage, sur le temps distendu dans un espace transitionnel.

Adopting a zenithal point of view, the video Passage is composed of a slow travelling shot revealing different thresholds in a very slow temporality. The particular point of view, centred on the interstitial crossing brings, against all expectations, a narrative dimension, without revealing the true story.
Indeed, these thresholds are not captured randomly: they follow the path of a man working in the manufacture of metallic threshold bars. Each time he crosses a threshold, encountered on his way to the factory, a picture is taken. Paradoxically, the overall view is impossible: the thresholds endlessly flow distilling their content in a different temporality.
Declined in photography and video, this work considers the threshold as a distinct object, fixed, incomplete and fragmented. The accumulated thresholds suppress the action by concentrating only on the suspension of the moment of the crossing, distended in a transitional space.
